Dr. Edward Etzel, M.B.A, Ph.D.

Dr. Etzel has held executive level positions, with both domestic and international responsibilities, at several technology organizations including HireRight Inc. Irvine, California, Verilink Inc. Huntsville, Alabama and Intermec Technologies Everett, Washington. He was also a senior level manager at Hewlett Packard over a 17-year period as well. Dr. Etzel has managed organizations with product responsibility for computer/telecommunications hardware and software applications spanning multiple industries. Dr. Etzel holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Miami University Oxford, Ohio, an M.B.A. from Golden Gate University San Francisco, California and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Kennedy-Western University.

Dr. Etzel’s interest in identity theft was peaked when he became a victim of identity theft.

“After becoming an identity theft victim myself, I felt there must be some way the consumer can be protected against this invisible crime. Combining available technology with the investigative tools used in pre-employment background screening industry offered a venue for early detection monitoring, thus the founding of NIPB.”

Mr. Nathans has been a business and technology leader for over twenty years. He headed the West Coast Consulting Practice for i2 Technologies, was Vice President and CIO of Siemens Medical Solutions, Vice President and CIO of Intermec Technologies, Executive Director of Application Development for Pitney Bowes and was a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Co.

Mr. Nathans' accomplishments include the complete design, development and implementation of all applications at Pitney Bowes supporting 2.5 million customers, 8 million pieces of equipment and 100,000 daily calls. He drove the complete transformation of worldwide applications and technology for Siemens Medical Solutions and Intermec Technologies in response to radical industry change. For i2, he implemented leading edge e-commerce solutions to connect one out of three hospitals in the US with their suppliers.

Mr. Nathans holds a Master of Science in Industrial Administration from Carnegie-Mellon’s Graduate School of Industrial Administration (GSIA), a B.A. in Administration and Management Science from Carnegie-Mellon University and was formerly a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. Nathans is active in the community as Chairman of the South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce, member of the Puget Sound Regional Leadership Conference and as a Rotarian.
